AI Agent Examples: 25 Real Agents and What They Do
Real agents grouped by job, with one plain line on what each one actually does.
Contents6 sections
An AI agent is software that takes actions for you instead of just answering. The fastest way to see what that means is to look at real ones. Here they are, grouped by the job they do, with one line on what each actually does.
Every line comes from the agent’s listing, which is checked against the maker’s official site. Open any name for where it runs, what it costs and its official link.
Coding agents
Coding agents read your code, make the change and run it, instead of only suggesting lines.
- Claude Code reads your codebase, edits files and runs commands and tests, in your terminal, your editor or on the web.
- Codex is OpenAI’s software engineering agent. It writes features, fixes bugs and reviews pull requests, in the cloud, the command line or your editor.
- Cursor is a code editor built around AI. Its agent plans and makes changes across your whole project.
- GitHub Copilot suggests code as you type, and its coding agent can take a GitHub issue and open a pull request.
- Devin plans and carries out coding tasks in its own environment, runs them in parallel in the cloud and hands back pull requests.
- Jules is Google’s coding agent. Give it a task on a GitHub repository and it works in the background, then shows you a plan and the changes.
App builders
App builders turn a plain description into a working app you can open and share.
- Replit Agent writes the code, tests and fixes it, and publishes the app on Replit with hosting included.
- Lovable builds a web app’s front end and back end from your description, and you keep editing by chat or in code.
- Bolt builds websites and full-stack apps from a prompt in your browser, then runs, edits and deploys them with nothing to set up.
Personal assistants
Personal assistants take your own errands: mail, calendar, reminders and the small jobs you’d otherwise do by hand.
- Siri AI is Apple’s rebuilt Siri. It understands your messages, mail and photos, acts on what’s on your screen and takes actions across your apps.
- Gemini Tasks (formerly Spark) is the Task mode in the Gemini app. It works in the background on goals across your connected Google apps, websites and files, once or on a schedule.
- Alexa+ is Amazon’s assistant, usable in the browser, that can plan and take actions.
- Lindy handles email, scheduling and follow-ups across your connected tools, with personal routines and shared team use.
- Tab is an assistant you text that does the errand itself: it books, calls businesses, buys things with your approval and builds docs, videos and sites.
- Poke is a text-message assistant for email, calendar, research and automations, on iMessage, WhatsApp, Telegram and RCS.
- OpenClaw is an open-source assistant you run on your own devices and reach through messaging apps.
Browser and computer-use agents
These agents use websites and apps the way you would: they open pages, click, type and check the result.
- ChatGPT Work completes tasks across websites, including ones you sign in to, on its own browser in the cloud, so it keeps going after you step away.
- Claude (formerly Claude Cowork) takes a whole task in any conversation, works through it in the folders, apps and browser you allow, and hands back finished docs, spreadsheets and slides.
- Comet is Perplexity’s web browser with an assistant built in. It summarizes pages, compares across tabs and carries out tasks on websites.
- Manus works on its own computer to finish tasks end to end: research, websites and slides, data analysis and web workflows.
- Perplexity Computer takes on the whole job inside Perplexity, from wide research and reports to apps, email replies and scheduled tasks, in its own cloud sandbox.
Customer support and sales agents
Business agents talk to customers or prospects for a company and take actions in its systems.
- Fin answers customer questions and resolves issues across channels, alongside the help desk a company already uses.
- Sierra builds agents for businesses that talk with customers, handle requests and take actions like returns or bookings.
- Agentforce lets companies build and run agents for sales, service and marketing on their own Salesforce data.
- 11x builds digital workers for sales teams, including an AI sales rep that researches prospects and runs outreach.
What they have in common
Each one finishes a task, not just a reply. That’s the line between an agent and a chatbot: a chatbot tells you how to do it, an agent does it and shows you the result. For the full side by side, read AI agent vs chatbot. To try one today, start with the free AI agents.
Every agent card on this page comes from the live AIcensus directory and updates on its own. Listings were last checked on October 21, 2026. Each fact is checked against the maker's own site.
