What it does
Perplexity Computer is the agent mode of Perplexity for paid subscribers. Instead of answering a question, it takes on the whole job: wide research across many sources at once, reports and presentations, working apps and websites, email triage and replies through connected accounts such as Gmail, Outlook, GitHub, Linear, Slack and Notion. It hands parts of a task to specialist sub-agents, keeps memory across sessions and runs in an isolated cloud sandbox, so nothing needs installing. It can also watch your email, calendar or flights and act on triggers or a schedule, like a morning briefing. Work is paid for in credits. Portable Computer can run it on your own NVIDIA hardware instead of the cloud.
