What it does

NanoClaw is an open-source (MIT) personal AI agent built as a lean alternative to OpenClaw: the core is a few thousand lines you can read in an afternoon. It runs on your own machine, and every active session gets its own Docker container, so the agent only sees the files and credentials you give it. By default it never holds raw API keys; a credential vault adds them per request. You talk to it from WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, Signal or iMessage, give each channel its own agent or share one, and set scheduled jobs such as morning briefings. New channels and tools come as skills. The setup script installs what it needs, asks whether Claude or Codex should power your first agent, stores that credential in the vault and pairs your first chat app.

  • Container isolation per session
  • Credential vault, no raw keys
  • Per-channel or shared agents
  • Scheduled tasks
  • Skills over features
  • Small, readable codebase
  • Chat with it in your messaging apps
  • Each session isolated in a container
