What it does
Ida is a native macOS voice assistant that lives in the notch at the top of your screen. You hold a shortcut, say what you need and let go, and Ida does it in the apps it is connected to: it can find a meeting on your Google Calendar, move it, draft the iMessage that explains why, open a GitHub issue or write into the app you are using. You can also type instead of talking. Before it sends, posts, schedules or changes anything it shows you exactly what it is about to do and waits for your approval. Voice transcription runs in the cloud or locally on your Mac, and cloud features are included, so you do not need your own API key. Ida is free to use and needs macOS 14 or later. Made by PRISM19, Inc., which operates Ida; launched on Hacker News on October 20, 2026 by its founder Francisco.
