What it does
Claude Duet is a separate app from Anthropic where Claude works as a proactive agent you message. Instead of waiting for you to open a chat, it sends a short brief each morning on what matters across your connected apps, checks those apps every few hours, and messages you when something needs a decision. You hand it tasks by text or voice in one ongoing thread, from scheduling a meeting to building a dashboard, forecast, deck or web app, and it works on its own cloud computer with its own browser, so your laptop and phone can be off. It uses your Claude account's memory, skills and connectors. Before it sends a message, pays, signs a document or deletes anything, it shows you exactly what it is about to do and waits for your approval; some things, like trading securities or moving money between accounts, are off-limits even with approval. Anthropic opened it as a research preview on October 21, 2026, by waitlist for Claude Pro and Max subscribers in the US, and says it is built mainly for work, so personal errands like booking tickets are weaker for now.

Claude Duet is included in Claude Pro (from $17/month billed yearly or $20 monthly) and Max (from $100/month) for subscribers in the US who get in through the waitlist, and it shares the plan's usage limits with the rest of Claude; its background checks count toward them. Team and Enterprise plans are not included yet (official page, checked Oct 21, 2026).
