Agents and automation tools are the plumbing of applied AI: the layer that lets models do multi-step work against real systems instead of just answering in a chat window. This is one of our smallest categories right now, and it's deliberately specialized — the two tools here solve different halves of the problem.

Pipedream is the workflow side: an automation platform where you wire triggers, APIs, and AI steps into pipelines that run without you babysitting them. Browserbase is the infrastructure side: cloud browser infrastructure that lets AI agents navigate websites, fill forms, and scrape pages the way a human would. If your agent needs to touch the web, something in this category is probably underneath it.

Both are freemium, so the practical tradeoff isn't whether you can try them — it's how pricing scales once you're in production. Automation platforms typically meter by runs or tasks, and browser infrastructure meters by session time, which means a workflow that's cheap in testing can get expensive at volume. The other real differentiator is reliability: retries, error handling, and observability matter more here than raw model quality, because a flaky automation is worse than no automation.
